Porsche 914
Custom Exhaust and Intercooler System Fabrication
This unique Porsche 914 featured a turbo engine swap from a Subaru WRX. This presented challenges, as the standard exhaust no longer fit behind the bumper. The engine swap necessitated a custom subframe and differential setup, positioned very close to the rear bumper. To address this, we initiated the project with a 3D scan, utilizing the data to design a bespoke muffler box. The muffler box was fabricated from CNC-cut stainless steel sheet metal. The design incorporated internal baffles that served a dual purpose as gussets, utilizing a robust tab-and-slot construction. This innovative design enabled us to accommodate a substantial 3.5-inch exhaust system through the existing bumper cutout. Custom brackets were meticulously crafted to securely mount the muffler, and a streamlined pipe, incorporating a v-band and flex joint, was fabricated to seamlessly connect to the turbo housing. Furthermore, we designed and built a custom combined catch can and a side-mount intercooler system, constructed from high-quality aluminum.
