BMW E36
Custom Exhaust and Engine Swap Parts Fabrication
This BMW E36 received a 3.0-liter engine swap from the newer E46 (M54B30), which required extensive custom fabrication to complete. We modified a set of E36 aftermarket shorty headers by adding V-band flanges and built a custom downpipe to connect to the rest of the exhaust system. The exhaust was constructed from 3-inch oval stainless tubing to maximize engine efficiency without sacrificing ground clearance. All hangers and brackets were handmade, and the entire system was fully back-purged and TIG-welded.
In addition to the exhaust work, we fabricated an aluminum radiator shroud to pair with the updated electric fan, featuring dimple-die construction and stainless retaining tabs. We also welded stainless fuel line adapters to convert the factory fuel rail to AN fittings and lines. Lastly, we 3D-printed a new cover for the original DME compartment to accommodate the added relays and wiring for the new engine harness, and designed a TPU insert to secure the new computer in the factory location.
